The Romance Voice #27
Sharing my love for The Intimacy Experiment, Enemies With Benefits, Tahira in Bloom.
Remember last week’s email from me? And how I said that my enjoyment of books is very personal? And that talking about it is very revealing? It’s especially true this week. By chance I read two books that strongly resonated with me. Luckily, in a good way.
Does that happen to you? Do you recognize yourself or your circumstances in the characters and stories you read? Is that something you look for?
I hope you enjoy this week’s links and recommendations.
Happy reading! ❤️

Debut Release
As much as I like discovering an author with a backlist (instant bingeabilty for the win), there is just something special about coming across an announcement for a debut release.
Vorfreude
Love hearing about new books and movies? So do I. Here are the announcements that caught my eye:
Tor bought the rights to Foz Meadows’ LGBTQ+ fantasy romance. MORE
Tule will publish Season Vining’s LGBTQ+ rom-com. MORE
Muse Entertainment optioned Real Men Knit by Kwana Jackson. MORE
Tantor Media bought the audio rights to Jackie Lau’s Cider Bar Sisters series. MORE
#TwitterMadeMeReadIt
I read The Intimacy Experiment by Rosie Danan. I knew I wanted to read the follow-up to The Roommate as soon as it was announced. But it became even more important when I read Stacey Agdern’s reaction to it. And reading the story I learned that I’m not an outsider looking in. I found a missing piece to a puzzle I hadn’t looked at in a while. The book is issue-driven but also a very sexy read, with a take-charge former porn actress and a progressive rabbi falling for each other. Recommended.
Newly Added
The latest romance novels I’ve added to my Want to Read list on Goodreads are:
The Bones of Ruin by Sarah Raughley
I first fell in love with the cover, then with the book description, but it is the author’s bio that I love best. She’s into RPGs!
The Layover by Lacie Waldon
I added the book because of this author’s tweet and her review on Goodreads:
First Time
I read Enemies With Benefits by Roxie Noir. I heard about this book in a Facebook group, and as I had it already on my reader… Enemies-to-lovers is not one of my favorite tropes. At least not at the moment. Luckily, the author didn’t write about enemies. They are more like competitors for various prizes and awards. Thus reading about their ongoing rivalry and their growing friendship was fun. And relating to the characters’ backstory, the loss of dreams, the wanderlust, and the search for a place to call your own, heightened my enjoyment.
Favorite Cover
Tahira in Bloom by Farah Heron | Cover artist: Christina Chung | Cover designer: Amanda Hudson
